NEWS RELEASE

April 17, 2003

On Tuesday, April 22, 2003 (2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.) United States Congressman Charles Stenholm will be visiting Rising Star Farms Foundation, a National Heritage Foundation.  Rising Star Farms is a multifaceted Equine Center providing equine therapy to mentally and physically disabled and non-disabled persons.

Rising Star Farms Foundation is privately funded, and no person is charged for any of its services.  We are located in Rising Star, Texas.  The facility was built to meet ADA requirements and the standards of NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association).

"It has been brought to my attention that the Foundation provides positive therapeutic regimen for its riders," said Congressman Stenholm.  He also states, "Although Equine Facilitated Therapy (EFT) is physically challenging, the bond between patients and horses reportedly yields remarkable therapeutic results..." and "I have been positively impressed by my limited exposure to the Rising Star Farms Foundation and look forward to learning more about this fine operation."

Rising Star Farms Foundation also provides facilities to 4H groups, church organizations, and school special education programs with a need.

Those attending along with Congressman Stenholm will be:  Judge Bailey representing House Representative Jim Keefer; Blake Woodall representing Texas State Senator Troy Fraser; Eastland County Judge Brad Stephenson; Rising Star Mayor Earl Bob Harris; Rising Star School Superintendent Johnny Singleton; Chief Deputy Mike McCoy of the Brown County Sheriff's Department; and representatives of Brown County Mental Health Mental Retardation and Association of Retarded Citizens of Brown County.

We invite you to participate in our open house, see the facility and interview the dignitaries.  We will have a short tour of the facility and rider demonstrations.
